2020 Western Intercollegiate Presented By Topgolf Is Canceled
San Jose, CA — In conjunction with announcements made by the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) and the Mountain West, and in accordance with county guidelines, the 74th Western Intercollegiate presented by Topgolf and hosted by San José State University is canceled.
The 54-hole men’s golf college tournament for 15 teams was scheduled for Monday, April 13, through Wednesday, April 15, at the Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, Calif., with daily live coverage provided by The GOLF Channel.
“With much sadness, the 74th Western Intercollegiate is canceled for 2020. This decision is consistent with the cancellation of the remainder of San José State University’s spring sports season and the local health officer advisory on group gatherings. The Coronavirus pandemic has changed our lives. The health and safety of everyone affiliated with the Western from players; coaches; the San José State, Pasatiempo and GOLF Channel staffs; tournament volunteers; and spectators is of primary importance,” said San José State University men’s golf coach and tournament director John Kennaday.
“We encourage everyone to follow health officials’ guidelines for increased hygiene, personal care, and safe social distancing; look forward to the end of this pandemic; and hosting the Western Intercollegiate in 2021.”
