Spartans Host 77th Western Intercollegiate Presented By Titleist On GOLF Channel

Broadcast to Feature Pasatiempo's Newly Restored Front 9 Holes

SANTA CRUZ, Calif — For the fifth time in the past six years, the 77th Western Intercollegiate presented by Titleist, hosted by San José State University, will be televised nationally and in 83 countries for three consecutive days by the GOLF Channel and Peacock, with three hours of live coverage starting on Monday, April 15 at 4:00 p.m. (PT), continuing on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. (PT) and concluding Wednesday, April 17 at 4:00 p.m. (PT) from the Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, Calif.

The Western Intercollegiate is the longest running college golf tournament dating back to 1947.

Fourteen teams and 96 total players will compete for top honors on the par 70, 6,615-yard Alister MacKenzie designed course. The nines are being flipped this year to help feature the newly restored front 9 on GOLF Channel. Teams consist of six players with the best five scores from each 18 holes of play counting to the team total.

San José State, with 12 Western Intercollegiate team championships, welcomes Arizona, BYU, Cal, Chattanooga, Hawai'i, Oregon, Pepperdine, San Diego State, Stanford, Texas, UC Irvine, UNLV, and Washington to the 77th Western Intercollegiate.

All 96 players are competing for the Western Intercollegiate's Blue Jacket, awarded to the person with the lowest individual score. In 2023, Pepperdine's Derek Hitchner won the traditional blue jacket after shooting a 7-under 203 tournament total. He became Pepperdine's fourth Western individual champion, and third straight, following his teammates Dylan Menante (2022) and Joe Highsmith (2021).

Many who have played in a Western Intercollegiate go on to play professionally. Past players account for 566 PGA Tour victories including 52 "major championships." Seventeen Western Intercollegiate alumni will be participating in this year's Masters.
